The statements

Christine Lagarde was the guest of honor of the Osservatorio Permanente Giovani-Editori on March 31, 2023. The ECB President accepted Andrea Ceccherini's invitation and took part in a public meeting in Florence as part of the "Nuovi incontri per il Futuro - Future-oriented meetings" series. This meeting was part of the same series that focused on Tim Cook, CEO of Apple Inc. and Jan Koum, founder of WhatsApp, Eric Schmidt, CEO and Chairman of Google, and Laurene Powell Jobs, Chairwoman of Emerson Collective and widow of Steve Jobs, the visionary founder of Apple. The President of the ECB and the President of the Osservatorio, Andrea Ceccherini, discussed future challenges with over 400 European students participating in the "Young Factor" initiative to impart economic and financial knowledge. Delegations of students from Germany, France, Spain and the Netherlands as well as Italian students took part in the debate. They are all enrolled in the "Young Factor" experiment at their respective schools. "Young Factor" is now the leading economic and financial education project in Italy, sponsored by the Osservatorio Permanente Giovani-Editori in collaboration with Intesa Sanpaolo and UniCredit, as an experiment also in the main European countries of the Eurozone. This event, in the presence of Christine Lagarde, follows the three-day international conference held last June at Palazzo Mezzanotte in Milan, at which the governors of the central banks of Italy, France, Spain, the Netherlands and, later, Portugal, held a conference to discuss the future of the eurozone, the Netherlands and later Portugal signed a public declaration of intent with the Osservatorio Permanente Giovani-Editori, in which they pledged to work together with the Osservatorio Permanente Giovani-Editori to promote economic and financial education for young people and a greater sense of belonging to the European Union. A commitment that was reinforced by the presence of the President of the ECB, Christine Lagarde, during the Osservatorio Permanente Giovani-Editori event in Florence.
